WRAPPING PRODUCT THAT NEEDS TO BREATHE
Packaging in the Food, Pharma, or Agricultural Industry is not always easy. Two main issues are: Wrapping product when it is still warm (ex: dog food, sauces, soups, yogurt ). Products that need to breathe (ex: fruits, vegetables, eggs, plants). You can’t apply traditional wrapping to those specific applications without the risk of damaging the load during the transport due to moisture and condensation forming between the load and the wrap. Tin and caps arrive corroded, labels are discolored, cardbox boxes mouldy and soggy which can result in poor presentation and in many cases unfit for consumption.
To solve this problem Phoenix engineered and developed the Breathe Easy Film Slitter to provide a cost effective solution where air flow is required to help prevent condensation from building up under the film. The Breathe Easy Film Slitter slice the film into 3 or more individual bands than can be adjusted in width. Ideal for products that require air flow, heat dissipation and condensation/moisture prevention (such as produce, flowers, dairy products etc..).
Breathe Easy uses standard stretch film, no special film (ventilated/netting) is required. The result is a wrapped load that has the required load retention to keep the pallet safe during transport while having enough air gaps to allow the load to “Breathe Easy”, keeping the product fresh and condensation free.

THE APPLICATION
Apples are shipped and transported in crates and cartons. Because of its impact- and pressure-sensitivity, the fruit has to be handled with appropriate care. The load must be properly ventilated and protected from moisture, as there is otherwise a risk of premature spoilage and damage.

Adopting the Phoenix High Profile Stretch Wrapper equipped with the Breathe Easy Film Slitter in his packaging line, the customer is now provided with an efficient and cost effective solution for those specific requirements. EGG PRODUCERS
THE APPLICATION
Eggs move directly from the layer house to the egg processing facility. Once the eggs enter the egg processing center, within minutes to 12 to 14 hours post-lay, they are washed, visually inspected, and then graded for packaging. Following packaging, eggs are moved to a cooler room (40-45o F), where they await shipment to retail outlets. Despite its relative strength, the egg is an extremely fragile product and even with the best handling methods, serious losses can result from shell damage. Economical marketing generally requires that eggs be protected by the adoption of specialized packaging and handling procedures.
